Greco rickenbacker 3253/9/2023 ![]() Hall presented George H with in February, 1964. The only flat-wound Beatle strings were probably what came stock on the Ric 12 that F.C. You can plainly and clearly hear several instances of string-squeak from roundwounds if you listen to the Hamburg recordings, New Year's Eve, 1962. They were probably the only electric guitar strings available to them there. Chris distinctly remembers everyone purchasing them. String of choice? -Gibson Sonomatics, all round for the guitar players. They would go to Hessy's music in Whitechapel together as a group of mates. He was the lead guitarist in the band "The Undertakers" who often played on the same bill with the Beatles at the Cavern Club, Litherland Town Hall, etc. I built a guitar for him, to replicate his 1960 LP Special that he traded for on another guitar, so many decades ago. For the benefit of all curious as to what strings the Beatles used, I can shed some light on that.
